What should I say...this is possibly the nicest cross grain and birds eyes combination I have ever come across.

This is some fish, "Dorado" hard to catch, nice to eat and this one will perform great balancing act of standing on its tail for you...

Cross grain on the sides and PLENTY of great birds eyes on the front and what a shape. Fitted with Lucite (Acrylic) stem with Delryn tennon for ease of display, this pipe will be delightfull smoker as well as main attention drawer in any collection...do you want to smoke it??? Don't know...do I want to sell it??? Don't know, will be in no hurry, thats for sure :-)

The pipe has couple of very tiny sand pitts which were left
in their natural state and will in no way detract from overall quality of this pipe...

Well, I got home from work today and, waiting in my mailbox, was Dorado! Well, my friend, all I can say is, "Wow!" This is an exquisite piece of work (and yes, I'll post a similar message to your site, too!). It is a pipe I'm simply thrilled to own, and one I'll treasure forever. It is beautiful. I have to thank you for working with me so that this could/has become the centerpiece of my pipe collection. Jan, I remember once seeing a post from you that you don't expect to ever be a "high-grade" pipe maker. Seeing Dorado, as well as other pieces you've carved, I have to disagree. To me, a high-grade pipe is one that combines flawless engineering with excellent execution of the briar carving and innovation in design. From the first pipe you sold me, the 2000 YPSC Club pipe, I saw the engineering. You've progressed, or my pipes from you have progressed, from that to including that excellence in carving. Dorado proves, as do the LOTR pipes and the Signature class, that you've discovered an ability to create a unique and excellent design. To me, that says that Jan Zeman carves high-grades. So tell me, what, in your opinion, keeps you from admitting that you carve high-grades? Yours - John

Hello Jan, I am a new member of the Yahoo pipe Club. I have not smoked one of your pipes(yet) but i have heared nothing but good things and glowing reveiws. And from what i have seen on your site i will soon have one of your great works in my collection. My comment on your "fish" pipe is Amazingly graceful. It is like music stopped in time and hardened into briar! It is very beautiful. Nick.
