This is one of these pipes which come along once in a while, unplanned and yet born with grace and great look. I did enjoyed myself carving it and simply followed the grain all the way to the result I consider stunning.
Carved from one of the Plateaux block from Mimo, Italy, the cross grain, and the birds eyes are gorgeous and only two tiny sand pits prevented this pipe to reach for the higher category.
Fitted with hand cut Cumberland stem of extra length to provide cool smoke and very nice balance, this pipe will look the part in any serious pipe collection and will smoke like a dream.
So it all came together for me...the lines, the grain and the stunning look...I wish every block of briar would release pipe like that, but then again, it would spoil the shear pleasure to see it happened and knowing it will not happen again anytime soon...enjoy
