Jan, I just wanted to let you know the pipe arrived today. It is superb! Again, your pipes have exceeded my expectations! This design with its rusticated pattern is one that I have been looking for for quite some time. The pipe fits nicely in my hand and is very well balanced. A winner! I appreciate you taking the time to carve this for me. The wait was well worth it! Take care for now. I am sure you we see another order from me come across your desk! Thanks again, Gary
Hello Jan, These pictures really don?t do justice to your pipes. You really have to see and feel these pipes in person to appreciate the fit and finish. Needless to say they all pass the "Pipe Cleaner" test with flying colors. The mortise and tenon fit tight and flush. The stem work is impeccable. The bits are thin and comfortable (I hate to bite them though). The drilling is spot on and the tobacco chambers are all of good size. I?ve now had a chance to smoke all three of the pipes I ordered and must say they all are excellent smokers. The Mary Celeste and 2003 Club pipes smoke cool and just feel great in the hand. Before smoking the Morning Tide, I really couldn?t see why some people like billiards so much. My only other billiard was a filtered Bing?s Favorite that wasn?t really my favoriteJ I challenged this new pipe by smoking an aromatic (Berry Cobbler) in it. I wanted to see if it would gum up or smoke hot. It didn?t. With its "Eltang" coating there was absolutely no bite. Aside from a quick poke with a pipe cleaner to absorb moisture, it smoked clear, cool and smooth all the way down to a gray ash. Now I get it. Billiards are our friends tooJ Regarding my preference for coating or not, I?m sorry to say I love them both. In the future I will probably order coated on rusticated or darker finished pipes. On the lighter finished smooth finished, I will order bare chambers. The reason being, the 2003 Club pipe, even in this short time, is already becoming darker and richer in color. I?m thinking there really is something to having a bare chamber that allows it to absorb some of the tobacco. It seams to be broken in already and is quite an enjoyable to smoker too. For the caliber of pipes you are producing they are a great value. Needless to say, for me, all of the pipes were well worth the wait. Thank you again for your patience, workmanship, and courteous service. Kindest Regards Rodney
