I never thought this would happen, but request by one of my client send me on a personal journey and quest to carve a companion to "The Hunter" which I done couple of years ago.
The biggest obstacle in carving a second pipe was finding a suitable piece of horn for the mouthpiece. My first reaction was that I will find it impossible and that would end up with one disappointed client. But after some intense search I did located the horn and the project took off.
The result, I hope you all agree is a pipe deserving of the name "The Huntress". Carved from Italian Plateaux and fitted with horn stem with black Ebonite tip. The construction and engineering of the stem is nerve wrecking to say the least, everything needs to be done free hand as the shape of the horn is just not suitable to be held in the chuck. And being the only available piece of horn on my hands any even small mishap would quickly end the project. The tenon is constructed from white Delryn and the bowl coated with my Pumice/Charcoal formula.
But all went well and I am proud to introduce to you "The Huntress" :-)

Thank you for making such wonderful pipes. I bought this pipe for my husband for our anniversary and he is so excited. Although it is not here yet, I'm sure this will quickly become his favorite pipe. I will definately look to you for future presents for my husband.
Dear Mr. Zeman, First let me say that the horn shape is one of my favorites. This creation of yours is by far the most beautiful rendition that I have ever seen. The pipe has a medieval look about it that really appeals to me and it certainly captures the hunting theme. I could imagine an ancient hunter smoking this pipe while stalking game in the forest. I would ask you to carve one for me but it would be unaffordable. That's all right. Not being able to afford a Rembrandt does not diminish my pleasure in viewing one. Thank you so much for sharing the pictures. They are going into my Wish List" file. Who knows, someday......Bob
